That being said\, there still are a couple of tricks that are helpful to know to make a frame by hand at a professional level. This class will teach you everything you need to get started and allow you to frame 2 paintings. \nNote: Student’s will be required to provide paintings that they wish to be framed. Size limit of 24 x 36 for paintings. Expensive wood such as Walnut will be available if requested. Market prices fluctuate and students will be consulted before any purchases are made for them. To reduce the hazard sawdust poses to students’ health\, all woodworking in this class will be done outside with a mask. \nWeek 1: Cut and Glue Frame stock. \nWeek 2: Splines\, Sand\, and Apply finish to Frame. \nWeek 3: Cut and Glue Second frame \nWeek 4: Mount Artwork in Frames \n(Photo courtesy of Washington Printmakers Gallery) URL:https://www.georgetowndc.com/event/making-floating-frames-for-painting-with-hand-tools/2026-01-07/ LOCATION:Washington Printmakers Gallery (1675 Wisconsin Ave NW)\, DC\, United States CATEGORIES:Community Events GEO:38.9071923;-77.0368707 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20260107T170000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20260107T220000 DTSTAMP:20251213T092853 CREATED:20251118T182001Z LAST-MODIFIED:20251118T182001Z UID:4211336-1767805200-1767823200@www.georgetowndc.com SUMMARY:Hinckley Pottery Holiday Show DESCRIPTION:Hinckley Pottery is pleased to host its first show in over five years. Would you like to learn to paint like an impressionist yourself? Around the turn of the 20th century\, there were dramatic changes in the art world. Where previous generations of artists once favored rigid techniques and spending thousands of hours in studios glazing hundreds of layers of paint\, now artists aspired to create more immediate paintings and tried to more directly capture the world they saw. This class\, meant for students at all skill levels\, will start from the ground up teaching students how to mix colors like the impressionists and introduce students to various techniques that evolved in the late 1800s and early 1900s. All supplies are included with the class as students will be encouraged to try out different paints\, brushes\, and other painting materials throughout the class. \nWeek 1: Still life- Drawing with paint \nWeek 2: Still life – Color theory \nWeek 3: Still life- Alla prima painting \nWeek 4: Landscape- TREESS!!!! \nWeek 5: Landscape- composition \nWeek 6: Landscape – tonalism \nWeek 7: Independent Projects \nWeek 8: Independent Projects \n(Photo courtesy of Washington Printmakers Gallery) URL:https://www.georgetowndc.com/event/intro-to-painting-alla-prima-and-impressionism/2026-01-07/ LOCATION:Washington Printmakers Gallery (1675 Wisconsin Ave NW)\, DC\, United States CATEGORIES:Community Events GEO:38.9071923;-77.0368707 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20260108T080000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20260108T170000 DTSTAMP:20251213T092853 CREATED:20251124T153032Z LAST-MODIFIED:20251124T153032Z UID:4211487-1767859200-1767891600@www.georgetowndc.com SUMMARY:Paris & DC: A Tale of Two Cities at Patisserie Poupon DESCRIPTION:At Patisserie Poupon\, where the scent of butter and sugar has welcomed dreamers for decades\, a new visual feast is ready to unfold. \nThis season\, the pastry cases aren’t the only things inviting you to linger.
